Human beings were not created to die, but to live in harmony with God forever. But when sin came into the world, death came as a natural and tragic consequence of sin. People will still exist forever, but the question is whether each person will exist eternally separated from God because sin or eternally in God’s presence through Christ. To be eternally separated from God is eternal death or hell. To be eternally united with Him in the enjoyment of all His blessings is eternal life or heaven. Heaven and hell are real places, and every individual will spend eternity in one place or the other.
